Atlanta Hawks

Golden State Warriors Receive: F/C John Collins
Atlanta Hawks Receive: F/C Draymond Green, 2026 First-Round Pick (Top 10 Protected – GSW)

Here, we have a considerably simpler deal.

Collins is not a perfect Draymond Green replacement. He’s a solid defender, but Green is arguably the best defensive player of his generation. With that said, Collins offers advantages that Green doesn’t as well.

Specifically, those advantages come on the offensive end. Collins isn’t the playmaker that Green is either, but he’s a considerably better floor spacer and lob finisher. His ability to either roll or pop out of pick-and-roll actors will give this Warriors’ offense a new, unpredictable wrinkle.

As for the Atlanta Hawks, their interest in Green would be obvious. They’re built around Trae Young. He’s one of the most dynamic offensive players in the NBA, but he’s also one of the league’s worst defenders.

The Hawks already addressed this issue in part – Dejounte Murray was largely acquired to compensate for Young’s limitations on the defensive end. Acquiring Green would be a final step in assembling a strong defensive group around Young.
