Why The Milwaukee Bucks Do The Deal
Continuity is a quality that contending teams often value. Why fix something that isn’t broken?
That’s exactly what the Bucks are going for here. To reiterate, Lopez is 34. His impactful has already begun to decline – he may not be a viable starter for long. Why not bring in the younger model?
Turner is exactly that. He’s a floor-spacing big man who also defends the rim. By putting him in Lopez’s place, the Bucks, in theory, wouldn’t have to change their title-winning approach one bit. If anything, they could be slightly more aggressive on defense – Turner is primarily a drop coverage big, but he can survive switches more easily than Lopez.
Best of all, the Bucks sacrifice very little in terms of the present in landing him here. Nwora was fairly ineffective for them last season, while Ingles isn’t expected to suit up much at all.
