For a time, it didn’t look like Julius Randle would be anyone’s co-star. Instead, it appeared as if he could be the Batman to somebody’s Robin. 

It wasn’t even long ago. In 2020-21, Randle was the league’s Most Improved Player and named to the All-NBA Third Team. Randle’s stock was trending upwards – and quickly. 

Unfortunately, 2021-22 was not much of an encore performance. Randle’s three-point accuracy plummeted, and the rest of his game went with it.

By now, it’s fair to wonder if he’ll ever replicate his 2020-21 success again.

With that in mind, any team trading for him is not getting a known entity. On the other hand, the Hornets aren’t exactly sending a package fit for a superstar here, either. They’re taking a calculated risk.
