The Indiana Pacers are currently in the early stage of a rebuild as the 2022-23 NBA season approaches. With that comes the potential for veteran players to be dealt before the midseason deadline.
Buddy Hield and Myles Turner have been frequently discussed players in NBA trade rumors. Turner is playing the final year of his contract and will likely reach free agency next summer — forcing a more urgent timeline. Meanwhile, Hield is signed through the 2023-24 season.
According to The Athletic, Hield and the Pacers are both open to finding a trade as long as there is a trade package that makes mutual sense.
“Hield has this season ($21.7 million) and 2023-24 ($19.2 million) remaining on his deal, and sources say Hield and the Pacers are open to a trade that makes sense for him and the Pacers.”

Hield put together an impressive stretch of play after being traded to the Pacers in the midseason deal featuring Domantas Sabonis and Tyrese Haliburton. In 26 games, Hield averaged 18.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists.
Hield is routinely among the NBA’s best catch-and-shoot threats in the NBA. He shot 39.1 percent from deep on 3-point catch-and-shoot attempts but was limited to shooting only 31.0 percent on pull-up attempts from beyond the arc. He is a real threat as a motion shooter deployed in half-court actions, as a ghost screener, and spot-up.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Buddy Hield & Indiana Pacers Updates
Any team that needs a sharpshooter that can add layers to their half-court offense should be pursuing a potential trade for Buddy Hield. It’s not enough to just have standstill catch-and-shoot threats.
Come playoff time, it’s a must to counter 1-5 switching on ball screens by attacking in other ways. Having a motion shooter like Hield to deploy as a ball screener can bring up a perimeter star into the action is a real asset.
