Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal
For the Wizards, this deal has two purposes. They’re improving their roster construction, and they’re adding a first-round pick.
The second benefit is obvious. Any team benefits from adding a first-round pick at any time. The Wizards are no exception.
In fact, if this team doesn’t change their fortunes soon, they may be desperate for them. Nobody should rule out a Bradley Beal trade if the Wizards don’t improve soon. On the other hand, this deal could improve them in the short term.
After all, the Wizards are fairly weak at point guard. Monte Morris is a good player, but he’s closer to a strong backup than a decent starter. Rose could instantly slot in at that spot.
