Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal
Frankly, after burying Reddish on the end of their bench in 2021-22, the Knicks would be lucky to get anything for Reddish. Generally, cutting a player out of your rotation is a bad way to endorse them to rival general managers.
Perhaps we should have seen it coming. Reddish has developed a reputation for inattentiveness on the defensive end of the floor. Meanwhile, Head Coach Tom Thibodeau has a well-earned reputation for being intolerant of defensive inattentiveness. Something had to give.
Craig shouldn’t have any trouble in that regard. He’s focused, intense, and generally reliable on the defensive end. In fact, if his three-pointer were more reliable, he’d have earned a Crowder-like reputation in this league.
It’s not, so he hasn’t. Regardless, Craig will play stout perimeter defense for as many minutes per game as the Knicks give him. Meanwhile, they get a pair of second-round picks for their trouble.

Granted, the Knicks moved a protected first-rounder to land Reddish, but by now, that’s a sunk cost. They should move him before they hurt his value even more.
Otherwise, they risk not even collecting this much for him.
