Taking risks can be a test of our mettle. If you don’t have the gumption, you’ll decline to take the risk. NBA teams routinely make risk assessments.

At the same time, some risks aren’t worth taking. Let’s say you’re interested in skydiving. Realistically, the risk is minimal – unless you don’t have a parachute, that is. In that event, don’t try to convince yourself that you’ll be able to tuck and roll.

There are players who might be big-time contributors, or, could be net negatives. By contrast, there are players who can be counted on to contribute, but probably won’t make – or break -your season.

Looking ahead to 2022-23, Cam Reddish falls into the former category. If he finally breaks out, it could be huge for the Knicks, or whichever team he ends up on.
