Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal
On the other hand, the 76ers don’t have much of a need for spacing at the 4.
After all, they acquired P.J. Tucker this summer. He’s not as strong of an offensive player as Harris, but he’s a significantly better defender. Given the players the Sixers have on their roster, that might hold more value for them. Moreover, Danuel House Jr. should serve as an adequate backup.
Of course, that might point to a concern regarding this deal. The Sixers may not need Harris, but between Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Tyrese Maxey, they don’t necessarily Hayward’s playmaking either. Realistically, this team doesn’t need anything.
Fair enough. On the other hand, if that’s true, they might as well prioritize luxuries.

All told, having a secondary playmaker (who, it’s worth noting, also spaces the floor) should provide them with more value than a spacing forward. In other words, this is a pure talent upgrade for the Sixers, even if it’s a marginal one.
It could be a simple solution – with tremendous results.
