Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal
Of course, this wasn’t supposed to be a deal the Hornets would entertain this season. Realistically, they’re not supposed to have room for Harris.
Unfortunately, things don’t always go according to plan. When Miles Bridges got charged with domestic assault this summer, he left a hole on this roster. The Hornets would be bringing Harris in to fill it.
Granted, he’s not a perfect replacement for Bridges. The former is a much more impressive run-and-jump athlete. On the other hand, Harris is a much more reliable floor spacer. Effectively, he’d be giving the Hornets a different look.
Following this deal, the Hornets’ offensive attack would be more built around LaMelo Ball than ever. After all, they’re losing some playmaking here.

At the same time, if they plugged Cody Martin into Hayward’s starting spot, they’d have a lineup more catered to a heliocentric playmaker than they ever have around Ball.
