Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G/F DeMar DeRozan, G Alex Caruso, F Derrick Jones Jr.
Chicago Bulls Receive: G Russell Westbrook, 2027 First-Round Pick (LAL), 2029 First-Round Pick (LAL)

Of course, you don’t need to tell a Lakers fan who common off-season speculation is. They’ve been the subject of much of it this summer.

There are plenty of good reasons for that. The Lakers’ 2021-22 season was an absolute disaster. For all of the talent on this team, a 34-win season was unacceptable on any standard. Now, the Lakers are widely expected to make changes.

Typically, those changes involve dealing Russell Westbrook.

For that matter, everyone’s got their pet Westbrook deal. Some thought he’d be heading to the Utah Jazz, but with Bojan Bogdanovic out of the picture, that looks less likely.

The Indiana Pacers still loom as a possibility, but that’s been in the rumor mill for so long that by now, we’ve got to question why it hasn’t occurred. The same goes for a trade sending Westbrook to the Charlotte Hornets or San Antonio Spurs.

Of course, most of those deals remain possibilities. On the other hand, it’s possible that as the 2022-23 season wears on, new suitors will emerge.
