Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

We can safely assume the Knicks would be interested in Booker. After all, they were interested in Mitchell. 

With that in mind, they’d be acquiring Booker with the same logic that would have had them landing Mitchell. The Knicks seem intent on cashing in their impressive asset base for a star player. This deal has them finally doing so. 

Granted, landing Booker won’t launch them into title contention. It will, on the other hand, make them more competitive. Realistically, that’s all the Knicks need. 

After all, this team plays in New York. That’s the biggest market in the NBA. The Knicks just need to put a respectable product on the floor, and they should be able to attract more talent.
