In order to know where you’re going, you need to know where you’ve been. With that historical overview behind us, let’s look at where each of these teams is in the present. 

It feels fair to say the Bulls have the more talented squad of the two. Between Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Vucevic, the Bulls have plenty of combined All-Star appearances. Between Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and others, they have a solid supporting cast as well. 

On the other hand, the Knicks may be in a better long-term position. They don’t have as much star power, but they have a deeper cast of intriguing young players.

More significantly, they boast one of the deepest collections of draft capital in the NBA.

Still, neither of these teams is seen as having serious title odds next season. With that in mind, either remains a candidate to make a trade – whether now, or later in the year.
