A large part of why the Lakers lost so many games last season was Westbrook’s inability to play alongside James. With that in mind, they ought to target players who can. 

This deal nets them at least two. Bojan Bogdanovic feels like a particularly perfect addition to this roster. His ability to create his own shot while also providing floor spacing makes him a good fit alongside any elite playmaker. 

Meanwhile, we’d say the same about Conley if his defensive presence wasn’t weakening in his old age. Still, his elite floor spacing will still benefit James and the Lakers. Moreover, Conley is a high-feel player who consistently makes good decisions. 

Finally, Clarkson, as an inconsistent floor-spacer, doesn’t profile as quite as strong a fit alongside James. That’s why the Lakers would use him as a sixth man. That’s fine – in fact, it’s exactly the role he’s thrived in throughout his career anyway.
