Why The Dallas Mavericks Do The Deal

Frankly, some people will see this as a step backward for the Mavericks. They’ll have a point, too. 

After all, the Mavericks already lost Jalen Brunson in free agency this summer. By trading Dinwiddie, they’d be exceedingly low on secondary playmakers behind Doncic. Are we sure about this? Hardly.

At the same time, they could also use 3-and-D wings. Crowder would instantly be the best one on their roster. In fact, he’s exactly the type of player who compliments a playmaker like Doncic. 

With that said, that’s not the only incentive the Mavericks have here. They benefit financially as well. Crowder and Saric are both on expiring deals.
