Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal
We already mentioned that the Jazz are involved in a lot of hypothetical Westbrook deals this summer.
Obviously, they’re not interested in landing Westbrook. In all likelihood, the team would either by him out or sit him for the year. The Jazz are only interested in acquiring a first-round pick here.
With that said, many proposals have them receiving two. In this case, they’re only getting the 2029 pick back from the Lakers. That’s because Mike Conley isn’t involved. Jazz fans shouldn’t worry – they’re still getting the most valuable of the Lakers’ two available picks here.
After all, the Lakers are in a difficult spot. It’s difficult to predict this team’s future – and the further away the future is, the harder it is to predict. There is every reason to hope the Lakers could be a lottery team by 2029.
