Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
At the beginning of this piece, we hinted at the Bulls’ motive here. They’re looking to land another starting-caliber guard on account of Lonzo Ball’s inability to stay healthy.
That alone makes sense. Granted, Rozier is a vastly different player from Ball. Where Ball is an elite floor-spacer, point-of-attack defender, and passer, Rozier is a scorer. He just happens to be a very good one.
Moreover, DeMar DeRozan’s late-career reinvention as a playmaker should allow the Bulls to start the scoring-minded Rozier. At the same time, should Ball get his body right, this deal still makes sense for the Bulls.
In that event, Rozier would function as a sixth man: a role he’s probably best suited for. Yes, the guard rotation would be suddenly crowded in the Windy City. That’s not a serious problem. Ball can man the small forward spot in 3-guard lineups. Coby White can be traded.

All things considered, a guard rotation of LaVine, Rozier, Ball, and Alex Caruso brings a range of abilities to the table. The Bulls can either make it work or find another deal down the line.
