These two Eastern Conference squads find themselves in interesting positions. Neither looks like a serious contender in 2022-23, but at the same time, life could be worse for either. 

With that said, the Hornets have had a difficult off-season. Miles Bridges is facing domestic violence charges. He won’t be available for the 2022-23 season – in fact, his entire career is in jeopardy. 

With that said, at least they still have LaMelo Ball. Rostering a young, franchise-caliber player disqualifies the Hornets from receiving too much sympathy.

On the other hand, the Bulls’ focus is more sharply on the present.
