Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
Well, we just inadvertently gave you a secondary reason this is a good deal for the Heat. They get off of Duncan Robinson’s difficult contract – they just pay the price of a first-round pick to do it.
That’s a price worth paying – especially when they’re landing Conley. Yes, we just dedicated a whole section to pointing towards deficiencies in his game. Let’s talk about what once earned him an All-Star appearance.
Conley is an elite floor-spacer. At this stage of his career, that’s probably his most valuable quality. With that said, he’s also a high-feel player and a great decision-maker.
Sure, he’s a defensive liability by now, but it isn’t by choice. Conley plays hard. He’ll fit in with Miami’s vaunted culture. More importantly, he’ll split point guard duties with Kyle Lowry.

With Lowry and Conley supporting each other, they may not need a fountain of youth after all.
