Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal 

Not only is aging inevitable – it’s cruel. Between Conley, Bogdanovic, and Clarkson, few would argue that Conley hasn’t had the most impressive career. On the other hand, in 2022, he may have the least trade value. 

Conley, at 34, is old. Moreover, he’s small. That combination is a devastating one for a point guard. As good as Conley is, he’s become a significant defensive liability. 

With that context in mind, the Jazz are unlikely to receive an unprotected first-round pick for Conley. On the other hand, the pick they’re landing here is only protected against disaster. It’s overwhelmingly likely that the Heat’s pick will convey outside of the lottery in 2023. 

Moreover, Yurtseven flashed some potential of his own in 2021-22 – he’s not a mere throw-in here. With some development, he can be a solid defensive big with some surprising passing chops as well.
