Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal
In our opinion, this is an excellent deal for Utah. They shouldn’t hesitate to sign the papers if this is on the table.
There are two questions for the Jazz here. Firstly, what is each of these veterans worth? Secondly, what are these picks worth? Realistically, that’s a basic version of the calculation any team makes before making a deal.
Bogdanovic is worth a first-round pick on his own. He’s such a malleable player that any contender would be happy to add him.
On the other hand, neither of the guards here is likely to fetch a first-round pick on their own. Conley is old, and he’s small – both of those qualities make him a defensive liability. Meanwhile, Clarkson just had a woefully inefficient shooting season.

Still, they’re probably worth a first-round pick in tandem. Therefore, this is a fair trade for the Jazz on face value. On the other hand, considering the context we already outlined around these picks, it’s a steal. These Lakers picks are particularly valuable first-rounders.
If the Jazz are waiting to complete this deal, we’re not sure what they’re waiting for.
