Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal
The Charlotte Hornets need a starting big man. On the other hand, if they trade Gordon Hayward, they’ll need a secondary playmaker. Unless they trade him for Nikola Vucevic, that is.
After all, Vooch can wear both of those hats. He may have underperformed in 2021-22, but again, his fit with the Bulls may have been the reason for that.
There is a difference between being a second option and a third option. Last year, Vucevic appeared to be phased out of the Bulls’ offense. We’re not saying that was intentional, but with LaVine and DeRozan eating up so many possessions, there was little room for him to be himself.
That wouldn’t be a problem in Charlotte. Behind Ball, there won’t be a player on this roster who is deserving of a bigger offensive role.
