Miami Heat
Utah Jazz Receive: G/F Duncan Robinson, 2023 First-Round Pick (MIA)
Miami Heat Receive: G Jordan Clarkson
Don’t look now, but the Miami Heat may have a problem with guard depth. If Kyle Lowry’s 2021-22 playoff performance was any indication, they’re short one starting-caliber player.
Of course, Clarkson isn’t the immediately obvious choice for this team. He’s certainly not a Lowry replacement. When Lowry looks right, he’s a high-feel player, strong defender, and elite floor spacer.
Clarkson is none of those things. Realistically, he’s a gunner. Moreover, the Heat already have the 2021-22 Sixth Man of the Year in Tyler Herro. Are we sure this makes sense?
Yes. Firstly, this deal would push Herro into the starting lineup. In all honesty, he’s already due for the promotion. The Miami Heat could continue starting Lowry knowing they’ve got one of the league’s most capable backups behind him.

Moreover, this team gets ample playmaking in its frontcourt between Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler – they can afford to play lineups with two scorers alongside them at the guard spots.
As for the Jazz, they’re eating a bad contract here in order to land a first-round pick. As a rebuilding club, that’s exactly the type of decision they ought to be making.
