Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal
For the 76ers, this deal is about depth. After all, it certainly isn’t about money.
It may appear to be at first. Harris gets paid more than Fournier and Rose combined. Still, Fournier has an extra year on his contract. For that reason, this deal actually hinders the Sixers’ future flexibility.
On the other hand, it should improve their roster. That holds especially true given that this team already acquired P.J. Tucker and Danuel House this summer. Between the two, they should be able to replicate much of Harris’ production – Tucker is even an upgrade on the defensive end.
Of course, some will note that the Sixers already acquired De’Anthony Melton to fill Rose’s presumed sixth-man role.

That’s fine – Rose is a substantial upgrade. Sometimes, pivoting away from your original plan is the right decision. Is this a smart decision for the Knicks?
