It should be said that Conley, on his own, may not fetch an unprotected first-round pick. 

Don’t get us wrong: Conley is a good veteran who’s had a great NBA career. He’s an elite floor-spacer with solid court vision and a high feel for the game. On the other hand, he’s 34 and he’s small. That diminutive size has made him a defensive liability in recent years. 

With those limitations in mind, this is a good return for the Jazz for Conley alone. Green is an intriguing young player with a high motor and good defensive instincts. If his three-ball starts falling, he could earn a starting gig in this league in time.

Meanwhile, Utah shouldn’t worry about this pick conveying – as long as Luka Doncic resides in Dallas, they ought to avoid the lottery.
