Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F Josh Green, 2025 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected – DAL)
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G/F Chris Duarte
In fact, Green and Duarte make for an interesting comparison.
Green is a distinctly superior athlete. He’s faster, stronger, and more laterally quick. He leverages those tools on the defensive end. Duarte is fine there, but Green is an actual, distinct positive.
There’s just one problem: Green can’t shoot. At least, he hasn’t consistently converted three-point attempts at even a league-average rate during his NBA career to date. Unfortunately, in 2022, that’s a tremendous problem.
By contrast, Duarte can shoot the lights out. He proved himself to be a strong catch-and-shoot three-point weapon during his 2021-22 rookie season.

Moreover, he can create his own looks off the dribble when asked to as well. As long as Duarte can shoot, and Green can’t, Duarte is likely to be a more valuable NBA player.
Should the Pacers really be gambling on development from Green?
