New York Knicks Receive: G Russell Westbrook, 2027 First-Round Pick (LAL), 2029 First-Round Pick (Swap – LAL)

The Knicks and Lakers may play in the league’s biggest markets, but most of the comparisons between them stop there.
Granted, either side has been accused of mismanagement in recent years. Still, somehow, the Lakers tend to land on their feet. The post-Kobe era was beginning to look bleak – until LeBron James decided to don the purple-and-gold, that is.
On the other hand, the Knicks haven’t had a superstar waltz in and save them in some time. This organization hasn’t won an NBA title since the 70s, and they haven’t been in the Finals since the 90s.
Perhaps it’s due to branding. The Lakers, mismanaged or not, are synonymous with success.
