Tyler Herro, Miami Heat
Miami Heat Receive: G/F Cam Reddish, 2023 First-Round Pick (NYK), 2027 First-Round Pick (NYK)
New York Knicks Receive: G Tyler Herro
In the last two trades, we had the Knicks giving up a treasure trove of draft capital to land their star. They may not necessarily have to – if we’re willing to stretch the definition of a star, that is.
Depending on your viewpoint, Tyler Herro may or may not qualify. He’s thrived in a sixth-man role, to be sure, but it’s difficult to conclude how productive he’d be as the focal point of an NBA offense.
Somehow, the Knicks feel like the right team to find out. Herro has something of a New York attitude, and fringe stars have always been the Knicks’ bag.
Of course, the Miami Heat may reject this deal. They’re in win-now mode – why would they take a gamble on Reddish? At the same time, the Heat have been linked to several stars this summer, and each time, they came up short.

In all likelihood, that’s because they’re conspicuously low on draft capital. Restocking the cupboard (and avoiding paying Herro after this season in the process) might be the right move.
If Tyler Herro breaks out on the Knicks, it’ll be difficult for them to watch, but hey – these Knicks surely deserve a break.
