New York Knicks Receive: G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
In today’s NBA, draft capital is the ultimate currency. With that said, it’s a multipurpose resource.
Some teams use it for its intended purpose – drafting players. The Oklahoma City Thunder won’t be able to use all of their picks in order to do so. After all, they have enough picks to fill out multiple rosters over the next several seasons. Still, they do appear intent on landing star players through the draft.
On the other hand, the Knicks may be the only team in the league to rival their draft stock. Somehow, it feels like the Knicks are more inclined to use their picks in the other popular way – to trade them.
If so, they should reach out to the Oklahoma City Thunder. By now, one has to wonder if star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is tired of playing for a team with such a future-focused philosophy.

If so, the Knicks may be able to offer him a spot on a team that’s angling to win as soon as possible.
As for the Oklahoma City Thunder, they’d simply be adding to the largest collection of draft capital in NBA history. It’s hard to say when the group might get competitive, but they could be downright dynastic when they do.
