Charlotte Hornets Receive: F Julius Randle
New York Knicks Receive: F Kelly Oubre Jr., C Mason Plumlee, F/C P.J. Washington
The Charlotte Hornets and New York Knicks are fighting for position in the same area of the Eastern Conference standings.
Both teams, as currently constructed, are likely fighting for a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament. Should everything go correctly, they could push for a sixth seed outside of the tournament.
Certainly, a lot could change between now and the regular season with trade talks ongoing. For the Hornets, they need an infusion of talent to help prop the team up and acquiring a former All-Star in Julius Randle should do just that.
Randle can step right into the role potentially vacated by Miles Bridges given the off-the-court issues he is currently dealing with. While Charlotte isn’t surrendering any draft capital in this deal, which is a win, they are trading away a lot of depth.

How does this deal impact each team? Let’s take a look at it from both of their perspectives, starting with the Hornets.
