Miami Heat Receive: F/C Kristaps Porzingis
Washington Wizards Receive: G Kyle Lowry, 2023 First-Round Pick (MIA), 2028 First-Round Pick (MIA)
Realistically, there are several factors that distinguish a team like the Miami Heat from a team like the Washington Wizards. To be sure, luck is one of them.
In fact, it wasn’t so long ago that the Wizards had a good thing going. Between John Wall and Bradley Beal, they had one of the most talented backcourts in the National Basketball Association.
Furthermore, they put a strong supporting cast around the two stars. The Wizards weren’t quite title contenders, but they might have been a piece away.
Unfortunately, lady luck is fickle. A devastating injury to John Wall set their plans back dramatically. Now, he’s long gone – and will probably never be the same anyway.
