2. Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers have been mentioned as a potential Russell Westbrook landing spot longer than any team in the league. Their link to him goes back to very early in the offseason, as numerous hypothetical trade proposals had been discussed.
The early packages included Malcolm Brogdon, who has since been traded to the Boston Celtics. But, there are plenty of other veterans that would be excellent additions to the Lakers’ roster.
Buddy Hield and Myles Turner are who Los Angeles reportedly have their sights set on. Both would fit in perfectly alongside Patrick Beverley, LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the starting lineup.
Hield is an elite high-volume 3-point shooter. He would receive plenty of open looks in this lineup. While not the strongest defender, he more than balances it out with his 3-point shooting prowess.

Turner is an elite rim protector. Pairing him with Davis in the frontcourt would make it a chore for opponents to score around the rim. They would be a nearly seamless fit alongside each other offensive as well with Turner’s ability to step out on the perimeter and knock down 3-pointers.
T.J. McConnell and Daniel Theis are two more veterans Los Angeles could have some level of interest in acquiring as well. The biggest obstacle in completing a deal with the Pacers is that they are adamant about receiving two first-round picks in return.

That is something Los Angeles has only been willing to do for Kyrie Irving to this point, as they do not feel Hield and Turner are enough to warrant two selections. That is something the sides will continue haggling over as that duo is likely the best pair of players the Lakers will be able to acquire this offseason.
