Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
In many respects, Draymond Green and Ben Simmons are very similar. They’re both playmaking forwards with elite defensive abilities.
On the flip side, there are two massive distinctions between them – shooting and availability.
Green isn’t an elite shooter. Frankly, he’s a below-average one. Still, unlike Simmons, he’s at least willing to fire from downtown. That willingness keeps his team’s offense flowing.
Just as significantly, Green is something of an ironman. He’s usually available to play, and if he’s healthy, you can’t keep him off the floor. That’s a quality that simply isn’t shared by the relatively aloof Simmons.

Green lowers Brooklyn’s ceiling, but he raises their floor. With Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on the roster, that may be a worthy gamble for the Nets to make. Furthermore, the opportunity to take a flier on Wiseman may make this deal too tempting for the Nets to pass up.
