Why The Portland Trail Blazers Do The Deal
Before we justify the deal from either side, a caveat – this deal can’t be completed until October 4th. There are restrictions keeping several players involved from being dealt until then.
Once those restrictions are up, this blockbuster could go through. If it did, it would rock the foundation of the National Basketball Association. It may also make the Portland Trail Blazers real championship contenders.
After all, defensive issues have plagued this group for a long time. Anthony Davis, if healthy, could fix a lot of them as a rim protector. For that matter, he could make for the most dynamic offensive partner Lillard has had as well. His dominant inside scoring would diversify what’s long been a perimeter-oriented attack for this club.
Of course, that “if healthy” caveat is a huge one. Davis’ body has kept him from claiming his once-annual spot as one of the best bigs in the league in each of the last two seasons.
