Right now, the Memphis Grizzlies could use some frontcourt help as they deal with Jaren Jackson Jr. being sidelined to begin the 2022-23 NBA season.
The Grizzlies were one of the most pleasant surprises in the NBA last season. Everyone knew their future was bright, but in winning 56 games and a playoff series, they made a statement: The future is now.
Unfortunately, they’re unlikely to replicate that success next season. Jackson Jr. is slated to miss 4 to 6 months due to injury. His absence is likely to alter the entire complexion of this squad.
After all, Jackson Jr. was the Grizzlies’ defensive anchor in 2021-22. His ability to protect the rim at an elite level and survive switches when necessary made him one of the better defensive players in the NBA.

Without him, the Grizzlies are likely to take a (hopefully) temporary step backward.
