Why The Indiana Pacers Do The Deal

Frankly, no. We’re not at all sure that the Pacers should trade for Julius Randle. If we were running the organization, we may prefer to stay the course and rebuild gradually.

This deal, again, is in line with how that team typically operates. The Pacers do not like missing the playoffs. They’re rarely in contention for the NBA championship, but they’re almost always competitive. Largely, that’s due to the team’s refusal to “tank”.

It’s a noble approach, even if some may call it misguided. Furthermore, it’s hard to say how much Randle may increase this team’s ceiling. They’ll certainly be hoping they don’t get the poor shooting, 2021-22 version.
