Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F Harrison Barnes, G Patrick Beverley, C Richaun Holmes
Sacramento Kings Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
From the Jazz’s point of view, this is likely the best trade we’ve suggested here.
It certainly nets them the most draft capital. All told, the Jazz receive four first-round picks and two swaps here. That’s about the amount of draft capital a team should expect to receive for a star player.
Meanwhile, the Lakers ought to see the benefit here too. Holmes will be a nice addition to their rotation, and Beverley will probably be their starting point guard from day one. Still, Barnes is the most significant acquisition for them in this deal.
Realistically, he’d be the Lakers’ third opton in 2022-23. His frontcourt floor-spacing will serve to complement both LeBron James and Anthony Davis perfectly.

Finally, the Kings don’t need to justify this decision: They’re landing a star player. Facing a 16-year playoff drought, they can’t ask for anything more than that.
