When the Utah Jazz traded Rudy Gobert for, in essence, three rotation players, a rookie, and four first-round picks, it was generally understood to have signaled Ainge’s intentions. This team, on no uncertain terms, was rebuilding.

Is there any reason they couldn’t retool instead? The Jazz received all those assets for Gobert. What’s stopping them from flipping them for another win-now asset, either this summer or leading up to the trade deadline.

Of course, there’s a strong counterargument to that point: why not just keep Mitchell?
