Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: C James Wiseman
Golden State Warriors Receive: C Derrick Favors, F Kenrich Williams, 2024 First-Round Pick (top-4 protected via HOU)

This kind of trade between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder has been floated out before. The Warriors are in win-now mode and if their young guys are unable to step up and perform to that level, they will seek out veterans that can.

The teams could be a good fit for each other from that standpoint, as the Thunder would love to have some of the young pieces that the Warriors have on their roster. James Wiseman would certainly be a good fit in Oklahoma City.

Replacing him for the Warriors would be Derrick Favors, who is a tested veteran with 42 games of playoff experience. Golden State would know what they are getting from night in and night out.

This trade cannot happen right now though for a few reasons. Kenrich Williams, who is heading to the Bay Area, signed an extension this offseason and isn’t eligible to be traded until after January 16th, 2023. The Warriors would also have to clear a little more money from their salary, as this trade is illegal by $79K.

Denouncing one of the cap holds on the roster would certainly do the trick. Golden State would also wait on a deal like this as the 14th roster spot is being held for Andre Iguodala should he want to return another season.

How does this trade impact each team? Let’s take a look at it from both of their perspectives starting with the Thunder.
