It feels like there’s a plan brewing in New York. An initial glance at their roster may be uninspiring. With some further thought, this team is kind of intriguing.
Outside of Julius Randle and Brunson, every player on this team falls into one of two categories. They’re either a young player with some upside or a solid veteran on a tradeable contract. Coupled with the fact that Knick have an impressive collection of draft capital, this club is in an ideal position to trade for a star.
Of course, they’re losing one of those tradeable contracts here in Rose. That’s fine. A first-round pick is a stronger asset. If all Rose represents to them is $14.5 million annually, they can fill that salary slot next summer.
