Charlotte Hornets Receive: F/C John Collins, F Jalen Johnson
Atlanta Hawks Receive: F Kelly Oubre Jr., C Mason Plumlee, F/C P.J. Washington, 2023 First-Round Pick (via DEN)
The Charlotte Hornets would like to get to the level that the Atlanta Hawks have in recent seasons. The Hawks advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021 and defeated the Hornets in the first NBA Play-In Tournament game.
This trade would help the Hornets continue ascending the standings as John Collins fills a major void in the lineup. He slides right into the power forward spot in case Miles Bridges can’t play. If he can, Collins can play some center as well.
Along with Collins, the Hornets are getting another young player that could develop into a rotation player in the frontcourt in Jalen Johnson. His inclusion is as big of a reason that Charlotte is parting ways with a 2023 first-round pick via the Denver Nuggets.
