Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
To reiterate, the Brooklyn Nets are largely without their own first-round picks until 2027. Either they owe them to the Houston Rockets outright, or via swap.
With that in mind, many feel that they need to receive quality players in exchange for Kevin Durant. This trade certainly accomplishes that task. It ought to keep them in the playoff hunt in 2022-23.
Of course, they’ll be running an offense focused on Donovan Mitchell. We can assume that if the team is trading Kevin Durant, they’ll be showing Kyrie Irving the door as well. Mitchell will be the alpha here.
With that said, they’re also landing one of the league’s best defensive wings in Bridges. Perhaps most appealingly, the pair are 25 and 26 respectively.
