Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
It’s hard to say whether Horton-Tucker is the answer for the Bulls, simply because it’s hard to say what Horton-Tucker even is.
We know he’s not a floor-spacer. The 26.9% he shot from distance in 2021-22 proved as much, as that poor mark was in-line with what he’s generally produced in his career to date.
On the other hand, Horton-Tucker’s unique wingspan continues to make him an interesting prospect on the defensive end. His strong ball-handling ought to make him a terror in transition in the right environment as well.
Granted, his poor floor-spacing projects as a problem in tandem with DeMar DeRozan, who is also generally averse to three-point shooting.

Still, the Bulls will have superior depth in 2022-23 as compared to the 2021-22 Lakers. They should be able to stagger DeRozan and Horton-Tucker by having the latter primarily function with the second unit.
If he starts to reach his potential, it could look like an excellent decision for the Bulls sooner than later.
