Atlanta Hawks Receive: F OG Anunoby, F/C Khem Birch
Toronto Raptors Receive: F/C John Collins, 2023 First-Round Pick
Even with Dejounte Murray on board, the Atlanta Hawks — like every team in the league — could use another two-way wing. This Toronto Raptors deal gives the Hawks one of the best 3-and-D players in the league and one who has more than enough offensive potential to be a legitimate star one day.
Losing John Collins hurts, but if the reports about him searching for a larger role are true, this deal could potentially be appeasing two unhappy players and unlocking their promise as a result.
While Collins has become a great defender in his own right, OG’s versatility and agility sliding along the perimeter give him the edge on that end of the court while his budding off-the-bounce game gives him a slightly higher ceiling on offense than Collins.
Khem Birch isn’t just a salary-filler either, as his two-way services will provide a valuable presence off of the pine for Atlanta and will help replace some of Collins’ presence inside the paint.
