Brooklyn Nets Receive: G/F Jaylen Brown, G Marcus Smart, 2025 First-Round Pick (BOS), 2027 First-Round Pick (BOS), 2029 First-Round Pick (BOS)
Boston Celtics Receive: F Kevin Durant
Recent reports suggest that the Celtics offered a package revolving around Brown, Derrick White, and an undisclosed amount of draft capital. Allegedly, the Nets declined that offer and countered with one including Smart.
The NBA rumor mill is a funny thing. Even the most credible sources can be fed misinformation. At the end of the day, nobody knows what might happen here outside of the General Managers of the Nets and Celtics.
Even they might not be sure. The Celtics could be hesitant to part with Smart. He’s the heart and soul of his squad. Furthermore, the Nets could favor a package that sends them more draft capital.
There is much to think about here. At the same time, the Nets are basically backed into a corner. Realistically, they need to trade Durant.
