Atlanta Hawks Receive: C Myles Turner
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F/C John Collins, G/F Buddy Hield
Indiana Pacers Receive: F/C Anthony Davis
If you haven’t noticed, all of these trades are really about maximizing Russell Westbrook.
It makes sense. If the Los Angeles Lakers are unable to find a reasonable trade partner for their point guard this summer, flipping Davis for players that complement him could be their next-best option. This trade again accomplishes that goal.
Lineups featuring Collins as a small-ball 5 could be lethal with Westbrook running point. Furthermore, when the Lakers need size, he can slot in alongside the newly acquired Thomas Bryant and still have spacing at both the 5 and the 4.
Realistically, none of these trades will occur. The Lakers are likely to bank on a comeback season for Davis. Meanwhile, the Pacers are more likely to stay the course and continue rebuilding.
