Utah Jazz Receive: F Tobias Harris, G/F Matisse Thybulle, G Tyrese Maxey, 2029 First-Round Pick (PHI)
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G Donovan Mitchell, G Patrick Beverley

The Philadelphia 76ers will enter the 2022-23 season as title hopefuls. Surely, they’d prefer to enter as title favorites.

This deal would likely bump them into that tier. A trio of Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Donovan Mitchell would qualify as the most talented in the NBA.

Some Philadelphia 76ers fans will resist the notion that this trade is worth their while. That’s fair. They’ve earned the right to be irrationally high on Tyrese Maxey. As talented as he is, he’ll be lucky to reach the peak that Mitchell already stands on. Flipping Thybulle for an equally elite defender who also spaces the floor in Beverley is another win-now upgrade for this club.

Meanwhile, the Jazz land a cornerstone in Maxey. Sure, he’d be lucky to reach Mitchell’s level, but in 2021-22, he sure looked the part of a player who can get there in time.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Thybulle and an unprotected first-round pick are good value for a rebuilding Jazz team as well. On the other hand, if the Jazz prefer more draft capital, this next deal may suit them.
