Charlotte Hornets Receive: C Steven Adams
Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G Terry Rozier
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: G Caris LeVert
This trade does not make the Memphis Grizzlies better in 2022-23. With that said, their outlook for next year is already cloudy. Unfortunately, Jaren Jackson Jr. will likely miss most of the year due to injury.
Behind Ja Morant, he’s their most important player. This team’s ceiling is probably limited next season in Jackson Jr.’s absence. For the Grizzlies, this one is all about 2023-23. They’d be reasoning that Adams’ skillset is more easily replaced than LeVert’s.
Meanwhile, the Hornets get a starting big man for 2022-23. They did just draft Mark Williams, but Adams is probably a perfect veteran for Williams to learn from while easing into the league as a backup.
Furthermore, Adams is on an expiring contract, and it probably won’t cost the Hornets the $17.9 million he’s making this year to retain him if they choose.

Finally, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be better off with Rozier than LeVert next season. As the more proficient off-ball player, he’ll complement franchise point guard Darius Garland more cleanly. Whether or not the team retains Collin Sexton, Rozier will be a better fit in their guard rotation.
With that said, if the Cavaliers were looking for a bigger return for LeVert, they might be able to get it – if they include a little extra, that is.
