Memphis Grizzlies Receive: G/F Caris LeVert
Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G/F Dillon Brooks, G/F Danny Green
Poor Danny Green. This deal has him getting tossed around like a hot potato this summer.
In fact, this deal couldn’t even go through until after August 23rd. That’s because Green was already traded from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Grizzlies this summer. He’s slated to miss most (if not all) of 2022-23 due to injury, so he’s become a convenient salary matcher.
In essence, this trade is a LeVert-for-Brooks swap. The two players make for an interesting comparison. On the one hand, the results they give a team are different. On the other, they take different paths to get there.
They’re both prone to inefficiency, especially from three-point range. Brooks compensates on the defensive end, where LeVert is roughly average.

With that said, LeVert is a more dynamic ball-handler / shot creator. If the Grizzlies are looking for a sixth man, LeVert is more suited to the role.
With that said, if they’re unwilling to give up Brooks, this next trade made suit them better.
