Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
“Heat culture” has become a bit of a running joke online. To some, it’s a joke. To the Miami Heat, it’s very serious. Meanwhile, the evidence suggests that we have every reason to take it seriously.
After all, this team’s player development program has yielded incredible results. Players don’t seem to fail on the Heat. From that perspective, this could be the perfect landing spot for Cam Reddish.
That’s not a knock on the Hawks or the Knicks. In Atlanta, Reddish was tasked with existing in a heliocentric offense structured around Trae Young. In New York, he found himself under the tutelage of a notoriously strict head coach in Tom Thibodeau.
Excuses are running out for Reddish. If he can’t make it work in Miami, he may not be able to anywhere. With that said, if he can, this deal could be a steal for the Heat. Reddish, if he hits his ceiling, will comfortably outperform Martin as a similar 3-and-D wing who also provides secondary shot creation.
