Miami Heat Receive: F/C Jaren Jackson Jr.
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: G Kyle Lowry, G Tyler Herro
This deal is a major risk for the Miami Heat. We won’t deny that. At the same time, it poses an even greater reward.
It may not help them much in 2022-23. Jackson Jr. figures to be absent for most of the year due to a major injury. Unfortunately, that’s been a major theme for him throughout his career.
Hence, the risk Miami is taking on here. With that said, the opportunity to pair Jackson Jr. with Bam Adebayo in 2023-24 would have to tempt them. On paper, the fit between the two is perfect.
Jackson Jr. compensates for Adebayo’s lack of three-point shooting. Meanwhile, Adebayo’s versatile brand of defense matches nicely with Jackson Jr.’s high-end rim protection. This deal won’t make the Heat better next year, but it could make them devastating in 2023-24.

If the Heat are willing to undertake a two-year plan, this makes sense for them. If not, perhaps they could include a third team to land them some more immediate help.
